Rowville Neighbourhood Learning Centre (RNLC) began operation on 9th July 1996 in the third term with courses starting in the Rowville Tennis Centre located in the current car park area.
When Knox City Council completed all the alterations to the Rowville Community Centre, RNLC was able to use a purpose built space within the main Rowville Community Centre itself. RNLC moved into the revamped facility in February 1997.
Knox City Council has supported RNLC since its inception and we began receiving Coordination funding from the Department of Human Services in August 2000. This allowed RNLC to provide services relevant to our community, in line with other Neighbourhood Houses in Victoria.
RNLC has continued to grow and provide many different community programs including learning, social connections and much more. As the organisation was expanding, the site was redeveloped again in 2003 with the development being completed by 26th June 2004.
In 2016, a collaborative alliance was formed to include all of the 5 neighbourhood houses in Knox called the Knox Learning Alliance. The establishment of this initiative allowed for a collective approach to provide quality learning opportunities to our local communities. RNLC was part of this initiative which assisted community members to find activities within their local area supporting a ‘No wrong door’ approach.
From 12th January 2021, the centre was rebranded to Community Learning Centre (CLC). It continues to offer a wide range of learning and leisure activities, including but not limited to social groups, information sessions, workshops, fee-for-service activities, and Pre-accredited Learn Local courses.
The story doesn’t end there. We continue to develop opportunities to connect, learn, inspire, inform and much more.
